We met in Galway on a mixed hen in June 2013 and have been inseparable ever since. Not long after that we went to Westport Festival and said that if we were to marry a festival wedding would be amazing. While coming back from New Zealand in February 2014 we ended up getting engaged while on a 3 night stop over in Abu Dabi.
On arriving home we could not wait to get married so we made plans to be wed a year to the day we met, on 7th June.
The following 4 months were simply amazing as we organised our festival wedding which we called Westival.
We were very lucky to be put in contact with Durcan O’Hara of Annaghmore House in Sligo which we chose as the stunning venue. The grounds had not been the venue for a wedding before so everything from water, electricity, traditional tent, luxury loos, full bar and kitchen facilities had to be brought to site for our day. And we organised everything, right down to the chic napkins on the tables!
Our wedding day started with an intimate civil ceremony in Markree Castle. This was followed by a blessing under a chestnut tree on the grounds of Annaghmore House surrounded by 120 of our closest family and friends. It was a day and night we will never forget which we topped off with an amazing fireworks display at midnight.
